With immediate effect, APOS has adopted the Go-Green policy as per the resolution passed in the GB of APOC 2015 @ Tirupati. Information dissemination is being done effectively in this website. I request all the old, young and youngest members of APOS to keep themselves updated on the activities of the society by visiting this website at least once in a week.

M/s Numero Technologies – Coimbatore, has been providing the state of art web services for the society. Activities of the scientific committee including the abstract submission is being done online which is at par with AIOS.

Only life members of APOS can submit scientific presentation. I request all the eye surgeons with AADHAR card of 13 districts of AP to become life members of APOS immediately so that your abstracts can be submitted for AIOC 2018.

Only life members of APOS are eligible for competitive sessions. Others without AADHAR card of 13 DISTRICTS will be Associate Members of APOS and will not be eligible for competitive sessions, cannot attend the G.B, do not have voting rights and cannot hold any posts in the office of APOS.

Three ARC-APOS CMEs were conducted in Vizag & Tirupati.

PG.BODHAN A: On 30th June and 1st july 2018, for the 1st time, APOS-ARC conducted, PG Bodhana at Sankar foundation eye hospital, Visakhapatnam. Thanks to Smt.Mami Mala, Managing Trusty, SFEH, who gave free accommodation to all outstation PGs, free pickup/drop from railway station/bus stand/airport for all PGs and on the last day afternoon, arranged a short trip to Ramakrishna Beach. It is more than worthy to mention and thank the trusty again for providing the OT, conference hall and all other facilities required to conduct the event.

More than 150 PGs attended from 3 states – Odisha, Telangana and A.P. A few highlights worth mentioning here is the Live surgery, didactic lectures, wetlab / hands-on sessions. Among the galaxy of faculties, notable guest faculties were Dr. Haripriya Aravind from Aravind Chennai, Dr. Usha Kim from Aravind Maduari, Dr. Mohan Rajan from Rajan Eye Care Chennai and Dr. Chaitra Jayadev from Narayana Netralaya Bangalore who did live surgeries of Phaco, Ptosis. Dr. T. Raveendra, President-VOA, SFEH and Dr. Madhu Uddaraju of Srikiran eye hospital Kakinada shouldered the task of organising this event but for whose strenuous effort and cooperation the entire PG Bodhana program would not have been successful. I thank all of both of them profusely on behalf of APOS.

I thank M/s Alcon, Aurolab, Appasamy and Johnson & Johnson for sponsoring the Live Surgey sessions.

The donations for naming of scientific sessions are pouring in. It has been fixed that the minimum amount is Rs.5 lakhs.

A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT and gives satisfaction to me as SECRETARY of APOS IN 2016-17.

A GOOD NEWS FOR Y O (Young Ophthalmologists) who want to start their own new practice

Y.O START-UP OP CLINICS—OP CHAIR STAND, AUTO REFRACTOMETER, SLIT LAMP WITH IMAGING SYSTEM, A SCAN, CORDLESS INDIRECT O SCOPE, TRAIL SET BOX LENSES AND FRAME, 20D, 90D LENSES, APPLANATION TONOMETER, etc,. would cost about 10 lakhs. I have applied for land in Amaravati for HQ building and i am happy to inform you that the progress is visible. The HQ building will see light soon.
